HISTORY : The decision to open a medical institute in Almaty was made by the Decree of the Council of People’s Commissars of the RSFSR of July 10, 1930 “The network, structure and contingent of admission to higher educational institutions of the bodies administered by the RSFSR for 1930/1931” In the annex to this Resolution, among the list of all other universities of the country there is a record: “… Alma-Ata. Medical Institute. Faculty of healing. Reception: winter of 1930/1931 – 100 people. ” This is the first executive document on the opening of a medical institute in Kazakhstan .

The Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan has united Medical Universities to develop an action plan for capacity building in the field of medical education, primary health care and continuing professional development through mutual strategic partnership with the University of Dundee, United Kingdom In July 2014, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the University of Dundee and the medical universities of Kazakhstan.
